Dr.Alrefai is currently the Section Head of Maternal Fetal Medicine Unit and a Consultant in Maternal-Fetal Medicine and the Maternal Fetal Medicine Fellowship Director at King Abdulaziz Medical City/National Gurad Hospital in Jeddah.

She is also an Assistant Professor of Obstetrics & Gynecology, King Saud bin Abdulaziz University for Health Sciences in Jeddah

She further specialized in Kidney Disease in Pregnancy and Glomerular Disease at the University of Toronto and completed a research fellowship in Critical Care Nephrology at the International Renal Research Institute of Vicenza, Italy. In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Ankawi is actively engaged in research with a particular interest in kidney disease during pregnancy and glomerular disease.
